Pine Grove Baptist Church No. 1 is located in Walterboro SC and is in its 167th year of ministry. We are seeking our next Pastor who will be responsible for leading the church body in functioning as a New Testament Church (Acts 14:23, 20:28-32; 1 Tim. 3:1-7; 1 Tim. 5:17; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Pet. 5:1-4). He will serve as the primary spiritual leader and head administrator, overseeing preaching, shepherding, and overall ministry direction of the church. Working closely with the deacons and ministry teams, the pastor will guide the church in biblical teaching, discipleship, and outreach, helping the congregation grow both spiritually and missionally. He will help guide the church into its next season of ministry by delivering biblically sound sermons that resonate across generations, cast and implement a vision for church growth, provide pastoral care, and strengthen youth and children's ministry areas.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Graduate of an accredited university, or seminary with a Bachelor degree or higher.
- Married (preferred).
- At least one to ten years of experience in a lead pastoral role.
- A gifted expository preacher with strong biblical convictions.
- Humble, relational, and approachable across all generations.
- A servant leader who delegates well and empowers others to serve.
- Spiritually mature with a vibrant prayer life and heart for discipleship.
- Experienced in pastoral care and collaborative leadership.
- A faithful expository preacher, committed to biblical truth and application

Position Overview:
The Pastor is to lead the church family to function as a New Testament Church. He will lead himself, his family, and the church well by modeling the attributes and characteristics of Jesus. The Pastor will be responsible for the spiritual leadership and overall direction of Pine Grove Baptist Church No.1. This includes faithful preaching of God’s Word, shepherding the congregation, developing lay leaders, and working alongside the deacons and ministry team to uphold the church’s mission and values. The pastor is expected to maintain a visible and engaged presence within the church family, fostering a culture of relational ministry, prayer, and gospel-centered outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Act as spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation carefully maintaining his own prayer life and close walk with the Lord led by the Holy Spirit.
- Lead and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons; lead in observance of the ordinances of the church. Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and communion.
- Work with church leaders, program directors, church committees, and the deacons in the planning, training, conducting, and evaluation of church ministries.
- Support and strengthen key ministries across all generations
- Preach well-organized, Bible-based sermons and lessons.
- Ensure church programs engage all generations.
- Support youth and children's ministries for growth.
- Lead efforts to grow God’s Kingdom and reach the lost.
- Help members find their gifts and serve in ministry.
- Provide care, counseling, and crisis support as needed.
- Care for the church’s members and other persons in the community including visitation of the elderly, ill and those who are hospitalized.
- Cooperate with the local Baptist Association, State Convention, and Southern Baptist Convention leadership in matters of mutual interest and concern.
