Reports to:  Senior Pastor

Status:  Full Part Time

Job Summary

The worship leader plans, coordinates, and leads all worship services under the oversight of the pastor. The worship leader will plan and lead a blend of quality corporate worship weekly that consists of music focused on drawing the congregation into a time of praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. This person will use the talents of the choir, praise team, and/or musicians as available.  Show a willing attitude of Christian service to the position and its responsibilities with willingness to explore innovative ways to grow the music ministry.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead congregational music with a focus on worship rather than performance or entertainment.
  2. Responsible for rehearsing and conducting the adult choir on a weekly basis to prepare for Sunday worship.
  3. Review, select, and purchase music that meets our doctrinal and worship standards.
  4. Prepare seasonal music, music for holidays, and music for special events.
  5. Attend and take an active role in staff meetings to share and coordinate with other members to ensure a seamless and worshipful service.
  6. Prepare the Order of Worship for each service and distribute as appropriate.
  7. Long-range planning for worship services.
  8. Secure substitutions for self and musicians as needed including coordinating pay.
  9. Oversee all music staff members, i.e. collaborative pianist, choir, praise team, etc.
  10. Duties are subject to change based on need and staff available.

Requirements

  1. Adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  2. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be striving to grow that relationship.
  3. Must possess quality vocal skills.
  4. Must have the ability to choose, arrange, and plan song selections for church worship from sound sources that advance Scriptural doctrine.
  5. Should be able to organize and lead choir, ensembles, and praise teams.
  6. Be flexible and able to adapt to change.
  7. Good communication and organizational skills.
  8. Ability to read music.
  9. Possess an understanding of the theology of worship.
  10. Must be able to pass standard background checks.
