Berea First Baptist Church of Greenville, SC, is looking for a musically talented individual with a passion for serving the local church through their musical and personal talents and skills. This position will assist the Worship Pastor in his duties of carrying out the vision and ministry of the Music Ministry of the church, and also serve as an accompanist to the church's choir and praise team. This is a paid part-time position requiring approximately 30 hours a week.
PURPOSE
The primary purpose and responsibility of the Music Ministry Associate is to support the Worship Pastor, who manages and oversees the ministries and administrative operations of Berea FBC’s music ministry. The Music Ministry Associate will provide musical, technical, and administrative support to the Worship Pastor for all events, special programs, and services. They will be responsible for using their personal gifts and technical skills to ensure the Worship Pastor is able to more effectively and efficiently accomplish the vision of Berea FBC’s music ministry.
The secondary responsibility of the Music Ministry Associate is to function as the primary accompanist for the church choir and praise team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Undergraduate degree in music preferred
- Experience in a church ministry setting preferred
- Experience functioning as an accompanist for a choir in a church setting
- Experience functioning as a pianist for a praise band preferred
- Familiarity with Berea FBC’s doctrinal statement, mission and vision, worship culture and environment preferred
- Familiarity with Church Management Software preferred (specifically, Planning Center Online)

- Must understand the basics of music theory and notation (equivalent of first year music theory course in college)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Accompanist Responsibilities
- Serve as accompanist for Choir during rehearsals (Wednesday nights)
- Serve as accompanist for Praise Team on Sunday mornings (as needed)
- Be available to serve as accompanist for funerals on BFBC campus (if available)
- Service Planning:
- Assist the worship leader with the planning and coordination of all service elements and communication to all involved participants
- Assist the Worship Pastor with managing the Praise Team members, including communication with existing members and recruiting of new members.
- Administrative Duties
- Assist Worship Pastor in planning and executing services on a weekly basis, including special services throughout the year.
- Assist the Worship Pastor in tracking guest musicians and technicians and communicating with Financial Secretary for their stipends.
- Assist in purchasing, organizing/filing, and distributing music resources for all rehearsal, service, and event needs in a timely manner
- Assist in making sure licensing for songs is accurate and up to date.
- Assis the Worship Pastor in the various Administrative needs of the Music Ministry of Berea FBC.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Worship Pastor or Senior Pastor.
