Church Profile
Valley Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of the Brawley community since 1952. We have a loving and faithful congregation, with a medium-sized debt-free facility, with a good reputation in the community. Presently our congregation is small, but we are praying that under the right leadership God will grow His church.
Valley Baptist Church is in Brawley, California which is the heart of Lithium Valley. The name Lithium Valley has been coined to honor the business of extracting this precious mineral from locally sourced geothermal groundwater. The lithium industry is potentially a billion-dollar industry that is being developed in our area. Lithium Valley activity provides a clean supply of the precious mineral that will power the future of electric vehicles in the United States. At the present time our community is experiencing exciting changes as battery manufacturers and associated vendors are moving to our area and creating a variety of employment opportunities. Additionally, the San Diego State University-Brawley Campus, located three miles from our church, has secured state funding for an 89.5 million dollar expansion. The SDSU-Brawley Campus will focus on the science and technology of lithium extraction and development.

Job Description
VBC is seeking a Pastor who is committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Holy Bible. The Pastor must meet the requirements found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and be committed to continual growth in his relationship with Jesus and his fellow believers. The Pastor must accept the Holy Bible as the sole authority for faith. The Pastor must have a willingness to abide by the VBC Constitution and Bylaws. The Pastor will be an effective oral and written communicator and an active listener with exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
The Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership and spiritual welfare of the church toward the accomplishment of the church’s vision and mission. Relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Pastor will support the church’s mission by providing spiritual leadership.
The congregation will support the Pastor as he oversees all areas of the church. In a new season of ministry, the Pastor will seek to build the church, its members, and God’s Kingdom within our community.
The Pastor should continually strive to develop leadership skills so that he can equip and encourage our church leaders to join him in serving the congregation and community through evangelism. The Pastor will provide the church with tools for spiritual development and be responsible for leading the church to function as a healthy church.
Duties and responsibilities
- Organize the pulpit, the Order of Service, and church sponsored activities.
- Ensure that the Word of God is taught in Sunday School, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School and prayer meetings.
- Perform all responsibilities with a spirit of Christian love and humility as found in 1 Corinthians 13:1-8, Ephesians 4:2, Philippians 2:5 and Titus 3:2.
- Perform the Church Ordinances, Baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, and other pastoral duties including marriage and funeral services.
- Must adhere to strict standards of confidentiality.
- Maintain the church’s financial stability by working with the Board of Trustees.
- Shall support and work with the committees and boards of the church.
- Be the ex-officio member of all committees and boards.
- Additional duties and responsibilities of employment will be defined in the employment contract.

Candidate qualifications
- Evidence of license/ordination as a Baptist Pastor/Minister. The church is willing to consider candidates that are actively seeking such.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively preach and teach God’s word.
- Prefer residency within the local community to be personally available throughout the week.
- Proven experience and a commitment toward community outreach.
