New Hope Baptist Next Generation Pastor

 

Job Description & Duties:

 

 

The Next Generation Pastor (NextGen Pastor) is responsible for leading volunteers and ministry teams in the overall educational and activities ministry of the next generation (children through young adults) of New Hope Baptist Church. The Next Gen Pastor is responsible for promoting evangelism and discipleship by planning, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating education and the activities of the younger generation of church. The Next Gen Pastor is responsible in carrying out the church’s mission and vision, intentionally recruiting and developing teams to promote kingdom growth.

 

Ministry Purpose:

The ministry purpose is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach practical application of biblical principles for the next generation of New Hope Baptist Church. To provide leadership and strategies that engages the church in investing in the next generation to align with common values of children and young adults toward common goals, objectives, and ministry practices with the church and community.

 

Service Relationships:

The Next Gen Pastor will serve under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, serving with the Youth Council.

 

Responsibilities:

The Next Gen Pastor will…

 

  1. Inspire families, the church, and the other ministry departments concerning the next generation of New Hope, while emphasizing his efforts on middle school and high school ministry.
  2. Provide pastoral ministry and develop relationships with the youth of the church (youth, parents of youth and youth leaders) and coordinate the training of others to do likewise.
  3. Coordinate the weekly youth education organizations. (Sunday School, Sunday nights, and Wednesday nights)
  4. Coordinate an overall youth curriculum plan for the church for a balanced, comprehensive Christian education to youth/students.
  5. Plan and coordinate recreational events, summer youth camp and summer youth mission opportunity. The Next Gen Pastor will promote the events, enlist leadership, and administer all details including generating funds for these events.
  6. Facilitate monthly ministry meetings with the Youth Council.
  7. Work cooperatively with the NHBC ministerial and support staff.
  8. Coordinate and implement an annual youth ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the Budget/Finance Committee.
  9. Create events for parents of youth related to their parenting roles, and activities for parents and youth.
  10. Assist with youth leadership in providing opportunities for members of the youth ministry family to be directly involved in missions and ministry – both locally and outside the community.
  11. Ask questions, seek leadership, take risks and learn.
  12. Coordinate the training and mentoring of members of the youth ministry family sensing a call to ministry vocation.
  13. Coordinate the planning to ensure youth/students experience personal worship and praise through preaching and music activities.
  14. Coordinate the enlisting, discipling, training and motivating of adults to serve in ministering to the next generation, in cooperation with the Nominating Committee.
  15. Works with the Communications Committee to effectively use the current tools and media for ministry at New Hope Baptist and beyond the walls of the church.
  16. Share the gospel with the lost youth/students and lost parents on an ongoing basis, both individually and cooperatively.
  17. Create and implement an overall youth evangelism strategy for the church.
  18. Network with other evangelical youth leaders in the community to support youth in starting and strengthening school campus ministries.
  19. Complete other duties and ministry participation as assigned or desired.
  20. Create and promote a unified and inclusive youth group.
  21. Assist Senior Pastor with visiting and contacting any visitors to the church with emphasis on youth and families.
  22. Assist Senior Pastor with developing and implementing various outreach and missions to the community.
  23. Pray with church members and guests who express difficulties in their life.
  24. Develops and exercises personal evangelism within and outside the church.
  25. Maintains a continued growth of personal calling and walk with the Lord through Bible study and prayer.
  26. Gives to the church through tithes and offerings.
  27. Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. A Christian, committed to Christ and the church as the body of Christ.
  2. A respect and appreciation for the Baptist expression of faith.
  3. A lifestyle that reflects an authentic commitment to Christ and one that can be modeled for youth.
  4. A desire to work with and learn from youth.
  5. Ability to work and serve well with others.
  6. Ability to manage time, complete assignments, and initiate new ideas and tasks.
  7. Open to creativity and diversity in Christian life, witness, ministry, and understanding of faith.
  8. A sense of call to ministry and desire for a place to further follow and process that calling.
  9. Willing to submit to a background check.
  10. Theological/seminary training preferred but not required.
  11. Willingness to submit to a job performance and evaluation by the Personnel Committee.
