Part Time Children's Director

 JOB DESCRIPTION: PART TIME CHILDREN’S DIRECTOR

OVERVIEW:

James Island Baptist is located in Charleston, SC and is currently seeking a part-time Children’s Director to lead our children’s programs for ages from 1^st - 5^th grade. We are blessed to be located in one of the most popular cities in the country, and we are growing!

While we have individual areas of responsibility, we share ideas together and join forces to more effectively engage in our ministries. With that in mind, this position reports to and is supported by the Associate Pastor.

DUTIES SUMMARY:

The part-time Children’s Director will be responsible for overseeing and leading all children’s programs at JIBC including Children’s Sunday School, Kid’s Worship, Awana, and special events. This position works approximately 15-20 hours a week on average including Sunday and Wednesday children’s programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Collaborating closely with the church staff as a fellow team member.
• Communicating regularly with parents of children via email, newsletter articles, in person, phone, text, and any effective way. We highly emphasize communication as being key to partnering with parents.
• Support Children’s Sunday School teachers by checking in with them on a regular basis, assisting with curriculum needs, and other areas as needed.
• Maintaining records in our church management software to ensure profiles and records are accurate such as children’s grade levels, contact information, parents, allergies, emergency contact, and other important information.
• Organizing, planning, and recruiting help for classes and events such as Vacation Bible School, Christmas Jingle Jam, Resurrection Party, and Graduation Sunday.
• Exploring new ways to engage more families in our community and to help facilitate their involvement with JIBC.
• Participate in Monday staff meetings.
• Along with the Associate Pastor, maintain responsibility of good stewardship of the Children’s Ministry budget.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• A mature believer in Jesus Christ and active member of a likeminded - bible believing church.
• Proven passion for teaching and leading children and leading children’s programs.
• Strong organization and leadership skills.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Satisfactory computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel or other equivalent software.
• An undergraduate degree is required; however, degrees in education and ministry are treated as a bonus.
• 2+ years of previous children’s ministry experience is required.
