Associate Pastor – Worship

Full Time / Exempt

Purpose of Position:
Make Disciples: The purpose of the Pastor of Worship position is to lead our church to worship God through music, media, and the arts. The primary responsibility is to provide leadership to all age group music programs as they develop a heart and talents for worship. Secondarily, the worship pastor leads media and technical teams.

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Relates Closely with:
Lead Pastor, Executive Leadership Team, and Ministry staff

Responsible for:

  1. Worship Leadership: Primary leader of the worship and media/technical teams for Fruit Cove

    Baptist Church as we pursue our mission to make disciples of all nations.

  2. Develop Leaders: Develop, implement, direct, and promote a Worship Ministry that is relevant

    to both the Fruit Cove Baptist’s congregation and to the wider community.

  3. Technical and Media Support: Support and provide technical production to all ministries as

    requested.

  4. Stewardship: Exercise stewardship of the financial, physical, and personal resources entrusted

    to this ministry.

  5. Expanding the Ministry: Expand the structure and scope of the ministry in accordance with

    the Biblical mandates and core values of the Church.

Specific Responsibilities: Pastoral Ministry

  • Serve the Church at-large as a member of the pastoral team, exercising the gifts and calling of pastoral ministry accordingly.

  • Provide pastoral care to the Church family and be available for counseling as needed.

  • Coordinate with the Lead Pastor in ministry planning and goal setting.

  • Serve as the Pastor of Worship by demonstrating the faithful sharing of the gospel on an ongoing

    basis, individually and cooperatively.

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, helping to provide counsel to the Lead

    Pastor and oversight to the Church.

    Worship Ministry

  • Direct a comprehensive worship ministry that leads the Church toward a lifestyle of authentic worship that is holistic, Spirit-filled, and biblically sound.

  • Supervise the enlistment, education, and evaluation of all leaders in the Worship Ministry.

  • Have a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and

    discipleship.

Staff Leadership

  • Lead the Church in prioritizing our Core Commitment to The Worship of God.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the worship ministry team.

  • Serve as the pastor/supervisor/coach for staff who serve on the worship ministry team.

  • Manage personnel matters such as vacation dates, staff evaluations, training, and professional

    development, and maintaining balanced work schedules for team members.

  • Facilitate regular ministry team meetings for the purpose of collaboration, calendaring, ministry

    planning, and vision adoption.

  • Provide regular communication with and encouragement of all team members (staff, teachers,

    and volunteers).

    Ministry to Church/Administration/Planning

  • Oversee the online ministry of the Church — ensuring an engaging, up-to-date, and evangelist emphasis as the Church seeks to leverage technology-mediated ministries to reach the lost.

  • Advise in the selection and use of materials, equipment, supplies, and space for worship ministry activities, providing coordination of resources between various programs.

  • Lead the worship ministry team to coordinate and implement an annual ministry budget proposal and administer that budget as approved by the Stewardship Committee.

  • Serve alongside other church staff members and appropriate committees in the development of a comprehensive church program, assisting in other areas as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

  • Participate in appropriate weekly staff meetings, seminars, retreats, and other ministry related activities as necessary.

    Additional Requirements:

  • An affirmation of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

  • A commitment and obedience to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally

    and personally.

  • A bachelor's degree with a Master level seminary degree preferred.

  • Five years of ministry experience desired, preferably in a similar role with ministry leadership

    experience.

  • A passion for discipleship, outreach, and missions.

  • Ability to effectively model, speak, and teach/preach God’s Word.

  • Ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written forms.

  • Quality leadership skills.

  • Exceptional administrative skills.

  • Basic ability to use computer software, such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Requires passing appropriate background, education, and credit checks.
