Senior Pastor Job Description

Grants Creek Missionary Baptist Church (GCMBC)

1401 Old 30 Rd. Maysville, NC 28555

Our Mission Statement

Sharing God’s love with all people by being the hands and feet of Jesus.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19

In the year of 1864 a group of people with desire to worship and fellowship met and held church services in an old log building located approximately five miles from the present Grants Creek Church.  In 1900 a wooden framed building was erected, and the church moved its services to the present location.  Although early records are incomplete as to the founders of the Church, the original name was known as Capernaum Baptist Church. On October 26,1913, the church name was changed to Grants Creek Baptist Church.

The average Sunday worship attendance is 75. Our previous pastor recently retired after seven years of service. We believe and adhere to the “Baptist Faith Message” Published in 2000 by the Southern Baptist Convention.  Our Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Baptist Convention of NC and New River Baptist Association.

We believe the pastor’s role in the Body of Christ is to feed and lead congregations and communities through the ministries of preaching and teaching God's Word and administering the Sacraments—Baptism and the Lord's Supper. The role of pastor is to be fulfilled with a servant’s heart.
