Pinckard Baptist Church of Versailles, KY is prayerfully seeking a full-time Pastor.  We are a Southern Baptist Church located in Woodford County and adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message.  We are a member of the Central KY Network of Baptist, KY Baptist and Southern Baptist Conventions. We are seeking a pastor who preaches from the Word, unifies all age groups in our church, has a track record of pastoral care and expository preaching. We will receive resumes until April 15, 2024. Job Description

Senior Pastor

Approved By Personnel Committee On February 13, 2011 Principal Function:

The Senior Pastor is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and encouraging the church body to do so, for guiding the spiritual development of the congregation, for providing pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons in the church and community.

The Senior Pastor is accountable to God, deacons and the church body.

Job Classification:

This position is an exempt (salaried) and full time position.

Working Relationships:

The Senior Pastor will work with the Deacons and other church staff, Church Council and all committees to insure that the mission of the church is achieved.

Work Locations and Hours:

The Senior Pastor's main place of employment will be out of the offices of Pinckard Baptist Church, Inc. at 3401 Pinckard Pike, Versailles, KY 40383.

The Senior Pastor shall establish uniform office hours and generally seek to maintain those office hours for the benefit of all church members and related business of the church. In times of absence during office hours the Senior Pastor shall leave word as to how he can be contacted either with the Church Secretary, voice message or other available means.

Responsibilities:

Lead or delegate the leadership of the congregational services: plan, evaluate and coordinate congregational services in cooperation with the music ministry, staff, Church Council and Deacons.

Lead the church to function as a New Testament Church

  • Provide guidance for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total church program.

  • Preach at all worship services that include preaching or arrange for someone else to perform this function.

  • Serve as an evangelist and lead the congregation in seeking the salvation of the lost and nurturing of the saved.

  • Lead the staff and the church in a caring ministry for persons in the church and the community.

  • Lead the staff and church members to become involved in missions through prayer and mission offerings as well as personal involvement, when possible, through mission activities in the local community and state as well as nationally and internationally.

  • Be present at all staff meetings.

  • Be present at all church business meetings.

  • Give supervision to other members of the church staff according to the staff organization set forth in the Church Organizational Chart.

  • Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the Church Ordinances.

  • Conduct counseling sessions as appropriate.

  • Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies, or at times share and/or delegate to other ordained minsters.

  • Work with Deacons, church officers, staff and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; train and lead the Deacons in a program of family ministries.

  • Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern; keep the church informed of denominational development; represent the church in civic matters.

  • May serve as ex-officio member of all church committees.

  • Shall serve a Chairman of Church Council.

  • Spend a reasonable amount of time visiting members who are in the hospital, nursing homes, etc., as well as prospects, delegating these responsibilities to other staff, Deacons and other church lay leaders as appropriate.

  • Comply with the church Constitution, By-Laws and other policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws.

  • Be reasonably available nights and weekends for emergency pastoral care, delegating these responsibilities to other staff members, Deacons and other lay leaders as appropriate.

Requirements: Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The position of Senior Pastor:

  • Shall meet the biblical qualification as set forth in the scriptures of I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

  • Requires licensing and ordination by a Southern Baptist Church.

  • Requires membership at Pinckard Baptist Church.

  • Requires a personal conviction of calling to the pastoral ministry.

  • Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.

  • Requires ability to speak, read and write English.

  • Requires exceptional speaking skills and the ability to speak confidently before groups.

  • Requires quality leadership skills.

  • Requires exceptional administrative skills, including the ability to supervise, monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to staff.

  • Requires the ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form.

  • Requires sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.

  • Requires passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks and at church's request, pre-employment drug test and physical examination. In addition at the request of the church be subject to random drug test while employed.

In addition to the above requirements:

  • Prefer a college degree.

  • Prefer a seminary degree.

  • Prefer 5 years of experience as pastor of a Baptist church or a comparable Baptist denomination service position.

  • Prefer basic ability to use computer software, such as Word and Outlook.
