DESCRIPTION:

Glynwood Baptist Church is seeking full-time Minister of Music and Worship Ministries to plan, conduct, and evaluate a comprehensive music ministry. As part of the ministerial staff, the Minister of Music and Worship Ministries will also assist the Lead Pastor with pastoral duties, including visitation, counseling, and pastoral care.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

The Minister of Music and Worship Ministries will help lead Glynwood Baptist Church to know God, love God, and love our neighbors through the following responsibilities:

 

  1. Plan, conduct, and evaluate weekly worship services.
  2. Coordinate the planning, operation, and evaluation of a comprehensive music ministry. Work with ministerial leadership team to determine music ministry goals, organization, and leadership.
  3. Coordinate the rehearsal and performance schedule for instrumentalists, vocalists, and ensembles, including but not limited to orchestra, praise team, and choir.
  4. Supervise the work of music ministry leaders, both paid and volunteer. This includes but is not limited to instrumentalists, the Worship Technology team, vocalists, ensembles, and age-graded music programs.
  5. Enlist and train volunteer music ministry leaders in cooperation with the church Nominating Committee and ensure all leaders working with minors complete a background check and Ministry Safe training.
  6. Prepare an annual music ministry budget to be recommended to the Stewardship Committee. Work within the budget to provide needed resources, training, and supplies. Maintain and replace equipment as needed, according to Glynwood’s purchasing policies.
  7. Work with Lead Pastor to plan and conduct funerals, weddings, and other special events.
  8. Assist with weekly hospital and homebound visitation, with particular attention given to senior adult members and volunteers in the Music Ministry. Assist with other pastoral duties as requested by the Lead Pastor.
  9. Coordinate the church music ministry with the calendar and emphases of the church.
  10. Supervise maintenance of and additions to music library and equipment; provide musical materials, supplies, instruments, and other music equipment for use in the church’s music program.
  11. Stay current on methods, trends in current worship music, and new software and technology, utilizing them where appropriate. Attend relevant music and leadership conferences in accordance with Glynwood policies and budget.
  12. Attend staff meetings, Church Leadership Councils and Quarterly Business Meetings.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Minister of Music and Worship Ministries is a member of the pastoral leadership team and is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor. Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Lead Pastor after the first three and six months of employment.  Subsequent evaluations will follow the policies set by the personnel manual.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 The ideal candidate will be a male Southern Baptist with a college or seminary degree. He will have an active and growing relationship with God that is revealed in his character and relationships. He will demonstrate a commitment to personal evangelism and disciple-making. He must display a high degree of financial accountability in both personal and church matters. He will be able to work independently, operating with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, honesty and confidentiality. Experience in worship leadership is a must, with at least 1-4 years in leading a church’s music ministry.

 

Ordination to the gospel ministry is desirable, but not required. Experience with worship planning and presentation software is highly preferred.

 

The candidate must be legally allowed to work in the United States and must meet and comply with all policies in the Glynwood Baptist Church Personnel Policies Handbook.
