Administrative Assistant/Treasurer

 

Bamberg FBC exists to equip believers in loving God, serving the church, & reaching the world with the gospel.

Benefits: 15 days off for vacation after the first year. The first year is prorated based on time employed. There are holidays for New Years, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  Other benefits to include insurance and retirement will be made at time of hire.

Principle Function- Perform general office work to relieve the pastor of minor executive and administrative duties. The Administrative Assistant also performs all actions needed to maintain the church’s financial management program.  Other functions include being a Christian willing to help fulfill the mission of Bamberg FBC, being responsible for the efficient operation of the church office, including general office management, and assisting the Children’s & Youth Director as needed for administration.

 Responsibilities

  1. Support the vision and direction of our church and this specific ministry job assignment
  2. Maintain various electronic files; keep records and compile these into periodic or occasional reports.
  3. Exercise tact, courtesy, and diplomacy in receiving callers, personal or telephone; keep a calendar of appointments.
  4. Prepare quarterly and annual government reports.
  5. Receive and answer queries concerning financial matters; maintain a file of invoices, correspondence, and reports.
  6. Request information for the quarterly report from each committee. Compile this information into one final quarterly report for the church and distribute it to the members or families.
  7. Update and maintain deacon family assignments. Communicate the assignment of new families to the appropriate deacon. Also, communicate to the appropriate deacon removals based on deaths or transfer of letters.
  8. Monitor correspondence on the Church email account daily.
  9. Maintain set office hours except in the event of emergencies.
  10. Keep up with vacation schedules and time off of both full-time and part-time employees.
  11. Must exercise exceptional judgment in dealing with sensitive and personal issues.
  12. Must be comfortable working with technology, assisting with website maintenance, and performing general data processing duties.

Qualifications

  1. Be a Christian and believe in the resurrection and salvation provided through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Display characteristics of a Christian.
  2. Flexible, dedicated, dependable, energetic, and personally motivated.
  3. Solid Biblical knowledge with a willingness to understand the Southern Baptist faith and theology.
  4. Have technical skills and proficiency to conduct activities in a computer-based financial application as well as other computer-based programs. Examples include Microsoft based programs such as WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint
  5. High school education with preferred Associate Degree in related field.
  6. Willingness to learn new tasks and promote excellence in all duties.
  7. Always looking for ways to improve work processes to allow them to be simplified and streamlined.
