Title: Worship and Music Pastor
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Classification: Full Time
Principal Function: The Worship and Music Pastor is responsible for evaluating, implementing, leading, organizing, planning and staffing the music ministry of Shiloh Baptist Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Implement a comprehensive music ministry, including vocal and instrumental choirs, ensembles and soloists.
- Support special events in the life of the church.
- Select and prepare music for each week’s Sunday services. The music selections should be coordinated with the Senior Pastor, working together to encourage church members of all age groups to worship in a spirit of unity.
- Lead congregational singing in the worship services. Direct or delegate the direction of choir[s] who participate in the worship services.
- Be responsible for the overall content of the musical portion of the services. Establish and implement written standards for the appearance, content and testimony of persons who present special music, including outside groups and special events.
- Coordinate each service’s production with the media team. Obtain releases and/or copyrights for the use of projected music.
- Supervise the work of other paid music staff.
- Actively enlist, train and oversee the work of other people in the church who serve in the music ministry and media team.
- Prepare and administer the music and media ministry budgets within the working procedures established by the church.
- Supervise the care and maintenance of music and media materials, instruments, music library and equipment as appropriate.
- Actively participate in the evangelism and outreach ministries of the church.
- Serve alongside the senior pastor as an associate pastor.
- Assist in pastoral care to church members in times of crisis or special need.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in music required, with a concentration in guitar, piano, or vocal performance preferred.
- Seminary degree or working towards completion, preferred but not required.
- Ordained to the Gospel ministry by a Southern Baptist Church.
- Minimum five years’ experience.
- Must have a committed relationship with God and a passionate heart for worship.
- Demonstrates a passion and drive for evangelism and reaching the lost.
- Strong vocal and worship leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience in administration of music programs.
- Pastoral leadership skills(Evangelism, Preaching, Teaching).
- Fully involved in church life.
- Strong knowledge of current media technologies.
