ASSOCIATE PASTOR/DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND CHILDREN

JOB SUMMARY - The Associate Pastor/Director of Youth & Children will have responsibility for the spiritual and administrative leadership of all the youth of the church (aged birth through 18 years).  While this role wil require the A.P.Y.C. to be the primary youth/student teacher, the A.P.Y.C. will also be responsible for all aspects of the children's ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS - PERSONAL

  • A personal and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Called to ministry with a heart for both children and youth.
  • A willing, teachable spirit.
  • In agreement with and will support "The Baptist Faith and Message" of 2000.
  • Disciplined in the usage of social media platforms.
  • Pursuing or completed Christian college and/or seminary would be preferred.
  • Must submit to a criminal background check.

QUALIFICATIONS - TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Must complete securtiy training for children.
  • Attend conferences and conventions for personal and ministry enrichment.
  • Meet with other ministers to obtain ideas and improve the quality of ministry.
  • Continually train in Bible and human resources.
  • Attend both local and national professional workshops and services.  Time off will be given for attendance (not to exceed two weeks per year).

RESPONSIBILITIES - GENERAL MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With support and direction from the Senior Pastor, establish and implement a comprehensive teaching framework for the children and youth of UBC.
  • With input from teachers and volunteers, develop an annual budget for the youth & children's departments and work with leadership to stay within those parameters.
  • Recruit, train, encourage and support youth and childrens's ministry volunteers.
  • Communicate with parents in a regular and timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor of Worship with various pastoral tasks and pastoral care of the families of UBC.

RESPONSIBILITIES - YOUTH

  • Be the primary youth teacher for Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible-study.
  • Manage all other aspects of the ministry including annual camps, retreats, mission trips, and/or other regular events and outings.

RESPONSIBILITIES - CHILDREN

  • The A.P.Y.C. will not be the primary teacher for any children's classes, however, he will interact with the teachers and children often enough that the A.P.Y.C. will be seen as the leader and be able to form relationships with the teachers, children, and their parents.
  • Manage all aspects of the ministry including Vacation Bible School, children's camps, and any/all seasonal events (i.e.: Easter-egg hunts, Sunday School class promotion, etc.).

All other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Pastor.
